Аннотация

The integration of new methods and technologies has significantly influenced the teaching of English as a foreign language (EFL) in universities. This article explores various modern techniques employed in university-level EFL instruction, including technology-enhanced learning, task-based language teaching gamification and collaborative learning. The effectiveness of these methods is analyzed in terms of student engagement, language acquisition, and overall academic performance. Keywords: Technology-enhanced learning, task-based language teaching, gamification, collaborative learning, EFL. Introduction. The worldwide demand for English proficiency has led to constant improvements in teaching methodologies. Despite being fundamental, traditional methods frequently fail to meet the changing needs of modern students. Universities are using technology and pedagogical research to develop more interactive, student-centered learning environments as they embrace new approaches to improve EFL training. These methods not only enhance language acquisition but also prepare students for the challenges of a globalized world. Technology-Enhanced Learning. Language learning in EFL classrooms has changed as a result of the use of digital resources. Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Google Classroom and Blackboard make it easier for students and teachers to communicate, share resources, and administer tests. Additionally, language learning apps such as Duolingo and Babbel provide supplementary practice outside the classroom. Chatbots with artificial intelligence (AI), like ChatGPT, allow students to engage in conversational practice anytime, anywhere. For example, at the institute of TMC, students use the AI-powered platform Grammarly to improve their writing skills. The tool provides real-time feedback on grammar, style, and tone, helping students refine their academic writing in English. Moreover, research by Blake highlights that technology-enhanced language learning fosters autonomy and motivation, as students can learn at their own pace and receive instant feedback.1 Universities are increasingly adopting blended learning models, combining online resources with face-to-face instruction to create a more flexible and engaging learning environment. Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT). TBLT focuses on the use of meaningful tasks as a way to develop language skills. This method encourages students to use language practically and contextually, enhancing language retention and application, as students are more likely to remember vocabulary and structures learned through practical use. Furthermore, instead of focusing solely on grammar and vocabulary, students engage in activities such as problem-solving, role-playing, and project-based learning. It also fosters collaboration and critical thinking skills, 1 Blake, R. J. Brave New Digital Classroom: Technology and Foreign Language Learning. For example, students might work in groups to plan a virtual trip to an English-speaking country, requiring them to use English for research, negotiation, and presentation. Ellis argues that TBLT promotes authentic language use and helps students develop communicative competence. By connecting language learning to real-world tasks, students are more likely to retain what they learn and apply it in practical contexts. Activities such as problem-solving tasks, project work, and role-plays are commonly used in TBLT to promote active learning and real-world language use.2 Gamification. Gamification involves incorporating game-like elements, such as points, badges, and leaderboards, into the learning process to increase motivation and engagement. In EFL teaching, gamification can be used to make grammar exercises, vocabulary drills, and speaking activities more enjoyable. For instance, a university might use platforms like Kahoot or Quizizz to create interactive activities or organize language competitions among students. Students compete in teams, earning points and badges, which makes learning more engaging and competitive. Furthermore, serious games designed specifically for language learning, such as Influent and English Attack!, provide interactive environments where students can practice language skills in context. Gamification has been shown to improve student motivation and make repetitive learning tasks more appealing. A study by Deterding et al. found that gamification can enhance learner motivation and participation. By turning language learning into a game, students are more likely to stay engaged and persist through challenges.3 Collaborative Learning. Collaborative learning emphasizes group work and peer interaction as a way to develop language skills. In an EFL classroom, this might involve pair work, group discussions, or coll
