This article aims to explore the multifaceted impact of social media on the evolution of the English language. The Influence of Social Media on Language Evolution: Vocabulary Expansion: Social media has introduced a plethora of new words and phrases into everyday discourse. Acronyms, hashtags, and slang terms originating from platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok have become integrated into spoken and written English. Social media has been a fertile ground for the creation of brand new words and expressions. Portmanteau words, such as "twerk" and "selfie," have entered mainstream lexicons through viral social media trends, reflecting the rapid evolution of language in the digital age.
