UNDERSTANDING CHATGPT: IMPACT ASSESSMENT AND FUTURE PATHS FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING EDUCATION

With the emergence of sophisticated AI models like ChatGPT, there is an increasing interest in comprehending their effects on education, particularly in areas such as Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). This research examines the effects of ChatGPT on CSE education, concentrating on its role as an educational instrument, its impact on student learning behaviors, and possible future uses. A mixed-methods strategy was employed to evaluate student involvement, performance, and responses to the incorporation of ChatGPT into their learning settings. Findings reveal favorable views regarding the model’s capacity to enhance learning, although issues such as excessive dependence and the necessity for appropriate guidance persist. The paper concludes by discussing future pathways for embedding AI into CSE curricula, highlighting the requirement for pedagogical revisions and ethical considerations.
