This article analyzes the phenomenon of conversational implicature occurring in dialogues. The study is based on H. P. Grice’s Cooperative Principle and its maxims of quantity, quality, relation, and manner. Conversational implicatures play an important role in linguistics as a means of expressing implicit or indirect meaning. The article demonstrates their communicative functions through examples from the Uzbek language. The results emphasize the importance of pragmatic competence and highlight the need for further research using corpus linguistics and artificial intelligence-based approaches.
