Mahmudov Chairman of the Scientific Seminar of the Scientific Council on Award of Scientific Degrees, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor 66 INTRODUCTION (abstract of doctoral (DSc) dissertation) The aims of the research are to reveal the pragmatic features of of Uzbek children’s speech; to classify the types of speech acts created by children; to identify the language units performing deictic function in children’s speech; to highlight the problem of expressing presupposition, connotation and evaluation relations. The object of the research were selections of speech patterns peculiar to Uzbek children of pre-school age and school age (7-14 years old), materials collected directly from linguo-pragmatic analyses and samples selected from children’s literature. Scientific novelty of the research is as follows: The types of speech acts specific to Uzbek children have been identified, the types of direct and indirect speech acts have been differentiated, and their pragmatic features have been revealed; Linguistic and non-linguistic factors that create a communicative-pragmatic barrier in children’s perceptive activities have been identified, and the pragmatic barrier’s negative impact on understanding the speech has been proved; Phonetic, lexical, morphological and syntactic units that perform deictic function in children’s speech have been defined, and different aspects of deictic units peculiar to children and adults have been substantiated; Presuppositional characteristics of children’s speech have been disclosed, and «presupposition signs» observed in adults and peculiar to only children have been identified; The ways of formation of the connotation in children’s speech have been proved; The expression of evaluation aspects in children’s speech, and the types of positive and negative evaluations have been distinguished. Implementation of the research results. Based on the obtained scientific results on the pragmatic study of Uzbek children’s speech: the analysis of materials on the pragmatic description of the language units in P. Kadirov’s story «Akram’s Adventures» has been used in project № 2013.S23.02.15 «Pirimkul Kadirov’un Romanlari Üzerine Bir Inceleme» of Artvin Ҫoruh University (Turkey) (Certificate № E.3546 of Artvin Ҫoruh University of 27 July 2016). Linguistic possibilities of P. Kadirov’s works, the individual style of the writer and his skill in creating images have been revealed on the basis of the analysis of speech acts peculiar to children; theoretical conclusions on the socio-pragmatic features of a number of deictic names used actively in children’s speech, such as ustoz (a teacher), ramazonchi (a Ramadan singer) pointing to the children who sing about the qualities of the month of Ramadan, etc. have been applied to the fundamental project № FA-F1- G041 «Studying the Development of the Uzbek Lexicology and Terminology in Independence Period».
