Today, it was found that there is a sufficient pedagogical need to form and develop creative and critical thinking of students of higher education institutions. Therefore, developing the educational process in such a way as to force students to think creatively and critically is one of the urgent research issues. In this article, the pedagogical necessity of developing creative and critical thinking of primary education students in higher educational institutions is revealed. In addition, information is provided about the content, purpose and characteristics of creative and critical thinking. At the same time, methods and methods that develop creative and critical thinking are sufficiently covered.
