Аннотация
This article explores the significance of zoonyms—animal names used in language— in written discourse, particularly in the context of (Central Asian or Uzbek) literature. Zoonyms serve as cultural symbols, metaphors, and narrative elements that enrich literature while reflecting societal values and attitudes toward the natural world. The paper examines how zoonyms are utilized in character development, linguistic evolution, and various forms of discourse, highlighting their role in digital communication and folklore. By focusing on these aspects, the study aims to provide a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of language, culture, and the environment. Keywords: zoonyms, discourse, literature, animal symbolism, cultural values, digital communication Introduction. Zoonyms, defined as names for animals, occupy a pivotal position within language, serving not only as identifiers for specific animals but also as carriers of cultural meaning and metaphorical significance. In Uzbek literature, these animal names encapsulate historical, ecological, and social narratives, thereby reflecting the values and beliefs held by the communities that utilize them. As literary forms evolve, the significance of zoonyms becomes increasingly pronounced, providing insights into character traits, societal norms, and the evolving dynamics of human-animal interactions. This article explores the multifaceted roles of zoonyms across various genres, their linguistic implications, and their presence in contemporary digital discourse, thereby underscoring the enduring influence of animal symbolism in shaping cultural narratives. In the realm of literature, zoonyms often symbolize character traits or thematic elements, functioning as quick references that evoke specific qualities within characters or scenarios. For example, in Uzbek folklore, the cleverness of the fox is frequently juxtaposed with the foolishness of the wolf, highlighting the moral lessons associated with these animals. This device not only contributes to character development but also reflects the values and lessons esteemed by society. Moreover, the narrative function of zoonyms extends beyond individual characters; they can signify broader societal themes. In modern Uzbek literature, animal imagery frequently engages with contemporary issues such as environmentalism and social justice. Authors may utilize the challenges faced by endangered species as metaphorical commentary on the struggle against cultural erasure or political oppression, thereby creating a complex tapestry of meaning that resonates profoundly with readers. From a linguistic perspective, the examination of zoonyms reveals how language evolves in conjunction with societal changes. Terms such as “temirqul,” meaning "iron horse," not only denote specific animals but also encapsulate the historical significance of horses within Central Asian culture, symbolizing strength, power, and endurance. Over time, as social contexts shift, so too do the meanings attributed to these terms, reflecting changing perceptions of animals. Additionally, 59
