In this article, the author analyzes the concept of socio-cultural competence and considers some views of scientists on this issue. The article indicates the most effective methods and tasks for the formation of socio-cultural competence in Russian language classes. Key words: socio-cultural competence, national audience, linguistic and cultural knowledge, speech material, effective methods.
