Аннотация
This thesis examines the evolution of modern linguistics, literary studies, and translation studies, focusing on key achievements, ongoing challenges, and potential solutions in these interrelated fields. It explores the historical development of linguistic theories, from structuralism to poststructuralism, and how these frameworks have influenced literary analysis and translation practices. Additionally, the thesis investigates the growing significance of interdisciplinary approaches that bridge the gap between linguistics, literary criticism, and translation theory. It also highlights current issues, such as the complexities of meaning transfer, cultural nuances in translation, and the impact of globalization on language diversity. Key words: Modern linguistics, Literary studies, Translation studies, Linguistic theories, Interdisciplinary approaches, Structuralism, Poststructuralism. Introduction: The development of modern linguistics, literary studies, and translation studies has been deeply influenced by the ever-evolving nature of language, culture, and communication in the globalized world. These fields have undergone significant transformations, particularly in the 20th and 21st centuries, as they began to intersect more closely due to advancements in technology, sociocultural changes, and new theoretical frameworks. Linguistics, once focused solely on the structure of language, has expanded to include areas like pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and psycholinguistics, leading to a deeper understanding of how language functions in context and in relation to its speakers. Literary studies, similarly, have shifted from traditional forms of literary criticism to incorporate postmodern and postcolonial approaches, offering new ways of interpreting texts that consider power dynamics, cultural identity, and historical context [1;33]. Translation studies has also seen rapid growth, recognizing the importance of cultural, social, and ideological factors in the process of translation. The discipline has moved beyond a narrow focus on linguistic equivalence and now addresses the complexities of meaning transfer, ethical considerations, and the translator’s role as a cultural mediator. Despite the progress made in these fields, challenges remain. For example, the complexities of accurately conveying cultural nuances and context in translation, and the struggle to balance fidelity to the original text with the needs of the target audience, continue to be significant issues. Additionally, in literary studies, there remains a tension between traditional and contemporary approaches, particularly regarding the role of canon and the impact of globalization on literary production [2;52]. Literature review: The literature on the development of modern linguistics, literary studies, and translation studies reveals a rich and evolving discourse that reflects the dynamic changes in each discipline. In linguistics, scholars such as Noam Chomsky (1957) and Ferdinand de Saussure (1916) laid the groundwork for structuralist and generative approaches, focusing on the formal rules that govern language. However, the field has evolved significantly with the advent of poststructuralism and sociolinguistics, as seen in the works of Michel Foucault (1966) 27 ILM-FAN VA INNOVATSIYA ILMIY-AMALIY KONFERENSIYASI in-academy.uz/index.php/si and William Labov (1972), which emphasize language’s social function and its role in constructing identity and power structures. Furthermore, the rise of cognitive linguistics, with contributions from George Lakoff (1987), has expanded the study of meaning, illustrating how language reflects human cognition and experience [3;45]. Methodology: The methodology of this thesis is interdisciplinary, drawing upon a combination of qualitative and analytical approaches to explore the achievements, challenges, and solutions within modern linguistics, literary studies, and translation studies. To address the evolution of these fields, a historical analysis is employed, tracing key theoretical developments and paradigms from foundational works to contemporary shifts in each discipline. This approach helps in understanding how linguistic theories, literary analysis, and translation practices have changed over time in response to social, cultural, and technological factors. Results: The results of this thesis reveal significant advancements, ongoing challenges, and emerging solutions within the fields of modern linguistics, literary studies, and translation studies. In linguistics, the shift from structuralist approaches to more dynamic theories, such as sociolinguistics and cognitive linguistics, has enriched our understanding of how language functions in society and cognition. The integration of language as a social tool, reflecting identity and power dynamics, provides a deeper perspective on meaning-making processes, highlighting the importance of context in linguistic analysis. Discussion: The discussion of this th
