Аннотация

This article explores the profound influence of classical literature on Ted Hughes’s poetry and prose, focusing on his engagement with Greek and Roman mythology, epic traditions, and classical tragedy. Hughes frequently incorporated themes from Homer, Ovid, and Aeschylus into his work, particularly in Crow, Tales from Ovid, and Cave Birds. His poetry reflects a deep fascination with fate, metamorphosis, and the primal forces of nature, drawing parallels to the heroic struggles found in classical texts. By blending mythological motifs with modern existential concerns, Hughes created a body of work that bridges ancient literary traditions with contemporary themes of survival, violence, and transformation.
