Аннотация
Realias, as culturally bound elements within a language, play a vital role in shaping and preserving the cultural identity of societies. These unique lexical items—ranging from geographical names and traditional artifacts to customs and institutional terms—serve as linguistic markers that distinguish one culture from another. The study of realias is crucial in fields such as translation, intercultural communication, sociolinguistics, and language education, as they often pose challenges due to their culture-specific nature. Keywords: Realias, Culture, Language, Translation, Intercultural Communication, Identity, Sociolinguistics, Heritage Abstract: Realias, as cultural elements embedded in language and communication, serve as a bridge between linguistic expression and cultural identity. These unique lexical items, including place names, customs, traditional artifacts, and culturally specific terms, hold significant value in translation, intercultural communication, and sociolinguistics. Understanding realias is crucial for accurate language interpretation, preserving cultural heritage, and fostering global awareness. This paper explores the definition, classification, and significance of realias, highlighting their role in literature, education, and cross- cultural interactions. It examines the role of realias in literature, media, and cross-cultural exchanges, emphasizing their impact on translation strategies and language acquisition. The complexities of translating realias, including adaptation, transliteration, and explanatory methods, are discussed in detail, with examples from various languages. Furthermore, the paper addresses the influence of globalization on realias, analyzing how technological advancements and international interactions reshape their usage and perception. While some realias undergo semantic shifts or become widely recognized beyond their original culture, others risk being 142 ACADEMIC RESEARCH IN MODERN SCIENCE International scientific-online conference lost due to cultural assimilation and linguistic homogenization. Ultimately, realias are more than just words or phrases; they represent the collective heritage, traditions, and worldview of a culture. Their preservation and proper interpretation are essential for maintaining linguistic diversity and promoting mutual understanding among different societies. This study highlights the necessity of raising awareness about realias in education, translation, and intercultural communication, ensuring their role remains significant in a rapidly globalizing world.Realias are culturally specific elements embedded within a language that reflect the unique traditions, history, and identity of a society. These linguistic units—ranging from geographical names and historical references to ethnographic and social realias—serve as markers of cultural distinction, deeply rooted in the collective memory of a people. Unlike universal words, realias carry meanings that are often untranslatable or difficult to convey outside their cultural context, making them a crucial subject in linguistics, translation studies, intercultural communication, and sociolinguistics.[1] This paper provides an in-depth analysis of realias, their classification, and their role in shaping cultural identity. The study categorizes realias into several groups: geographical (names of places, natural landmarks), ethnographic (customs, traditions, national cuisine, clothing, folklore), and socio-political (government structures, administrative terms, historical figures). Each category plays a distinct role in preserving cultural memory and enhancing linguistic richness.[2] One of the major challenges associated with realias is their translation and adaptation in cross-cultural contexts. Since realias often lack direct equivalents in other languages, translators must employ various strategies, such as transliteration, calque, descriptive translation, and adaptation, to maintain their meaning and cultural significance. The paper examines these translation strategies through case studies of literary works, films, and media, demonstrating how different approaches impact the perception and transmission of realias across languages.[3] The influence of globalization on realias is another crucial aspect of the study. In an increasingly interconnected world, many realias have gained international recognition, while others face the threat of erosion due to cultural assimilation. The spread of global media, digital communication, and tourism has contributed to both the preservation and transformation of realias. Some culturally bound terms become widely adopted into other languages (e.g., 143 ACADEMIC RESEARCH IN MODERN SCIENCE International scientific-online confe
