This article analyzes the relevance of pharmaceutical terms in Uzbek and English and their current status. Pharmaceutical terms in both Uzbek and English languages reveals significant discrepancies that potentially hinder effective communication in global healthcare. Harmonizing these terminologies is essential to foster international collaboration and ensure consistency in patient care and safety standards globally. Key words: nomenclature, pharmaceutical terms, Uzbek and English languages, current status The comparative status of pharmaceutical terminology in Uzbek and English languages is a compelling subject that underscores the broader cultural and scientific challenges of globalization. The Uzbek pharmaceutical lexicon is evolving but remains in stark contrast to the extensively developed medical and pharmaceutical vocabulary found in English. This disparity presents a number of critical issues that need careful examination, particularly in the context of effective healthcare communication and international cooperation. English, as the lingua franca of science and medicine, boasts a robust and historically rich collection of medical and pharmaceutical terms. This vocabulary continues to grow, supported by ongoing research advancements and a well-connected global scientific community. The English language's adaptability allows it to incorporate new terminologies drawn from cutting-edge scientific discoveries with remarkable speed and efficiency. This has strengthened its role as a unifying medium for professionals working across borders, fostering collaborative research and data sharing essential for advancements in pharmacology. Conversely, Uzbek, a language used by over thirty million people, many of whom reside in Uzbekistan where multilingualism is common, faces unique challenges. The Uzbek pharmaceutical nomenclature is comparatively underdeveloped. Many standard terms and concepts in pharmacology have no direct equivalents in Uzbek, often resulting in the borrowing of English terms which are not always seamlessly integrated into the local linguistic framework. This has led to potential misunderstandings and miscommunications, which can critically impede medical and pharmaceutical professionals’ ability to deliver optimal healthcare services. Moreover, the Uzbek language is undergoing a period of revitalization and standardization in an effort to assert its identity. This cultural assertion often conflicts with the practical necessity of adopting foreign terms to fill gaps in the local pharmaceutical vocabulary. However, without an adequate terminology that both accommodates scientific precision and cultural relevance, professionals may be at a disadvantage when engaging in international research discussions or accessing global medical and pharmaceutical literature. The educational system is another battleground where this linguistic conflict unfolds. If medical and pharmaceutical curricula in Uzbekistan continue to rely heavily on English resources without substantial adaptation, a 175 «UCHINCHI RENESSANS: TIBBIY VA FARMATSEVTIK TA’LIM ISLOHOTLARI JARAYONIDA GUMANITAR FANLARNING VAZIFASI VA ISTIQBOLLARI» MAVZUSIDA RESPUBLIKA ILMIY-AMALIY ANJUMANI www.in-academy.uz significant portion of students and professionals may struggle to achieve proficiency not just in language but also in specialized knowledge. Addressing these issues calls for a multi- faceted approach. First, there needs to be an active development of Uzbek pharmaceutical nomenclature that aligns with international standards while respecting linguistic nuances. Creating comprehensive reference materials in both languages and promoting bilingual proficiency among medical and pharmaceutical professionals would not only enhance local healthcare service delivery but also ensure effective participation in international forums and collaborations. Furthermore, a concerted effort to enrich the educational system through language training and the dual development of English and Uzbek medical and pharmaceutical literature could prove essential. Bridging this linguistic gap means balancing practical realities and cultural integrity, ensuring that Uzbekistan's future medical and pharmaceutical practitioners are equipped to meet both local and global demands. In conclusion, harmonizing pharmaceutical terminology between Uzbek and English hinges on a delicate equilibrium between globalization and cultural identity. It necessitates the harmonization of linguistic rigor with respect for cultural roots, a task requiring thoughtful innovation and committed investment from educators, linguists, and policymakers alike. Only through such cooperative measures can the linguistic divide be bridged, benefitting not just Uzbekistan’s healthcare system but also contributing to the broader global medical and pharmaceutical dialogue.
