Language and gender studies are increasingly becoming gendered and discursive. The study of speech and gender is an interdisciplinary work of scholars in linguistics, anthropology, speech communication, social psychology, education, literature, and other disciplines. Many researchers have been primarily concerned with documenting gendered patterns of language use, but the field of language research has also covered many areas in which social and political aspects of gender relations can be seen.
