Stylistic devices and their types

In spite of considering that style is a property of discourse as a global configuration, this analysis requires to take into consideration the linguistic means traditionally studied as expressive means, stylistic means, stylistic markers, stylistic devices, figures of speech and so on. All these terms have traditionally been classified into two types in the study of rhetoric (the word rhetoric is still sometimes used to describe what we have up to now been calling style) – tropes and figures.
