The article examines modern education and modern pedagogy in the scientific world. They impose new requirements on the professional and pedagogical training of teachers. A modern teacher should contribute to ensuring the quality of education, the development of the personality of students who independently acquire knowledge, are new-thinking and able to apply the knowledge they receive in real life cases. In the training of an experienced and competent teacher, world languages are of primary importance. The factors determining the effectiveness of the functioning and development of the higher education system in the context of the competence approach are the educational environment. It is important to ensure not only its humanistic orientation, but also its innovative nature. Depending on the degree of formation of such an educational environment, it is customary to divide all educational institutions of the country into traditional and innovative ones, which are focused on the latest achievements of pedagogical science.
