The article provides an overview of the concept of bioethics, describes the historical and socio-technological factors that led to its formation, outlines the basic principles and systematizes the key problem areas of modern bioethical discourse. The need for an interdisciplinary approach and adaptive ethical standards in the context of rapid scientific and technological progress is emphasized. Keywords: bioethics; autonomy; informed consent; euthanasia; genetic engineering; reproductive technologies; transplantology; bioethical principles; non-harm; justice.
