Аннотация

Metaphor theory takes an important place in cognitive linguistics for it can provide a key to understanding not only the principles of forming metaphorical expressions themselves, but also mental mechanisms. A significant contribution to the understanding of the metaphor was made by the theory of conceptual blending, proposed by J.Fauconnier and M. Turner, according to which, on the basis of two initial elements of a metaphorical expression, a new one is formed that has a conceptual character. This article discusses the mechanisms of forming a conceptual metaphor in a prose text, as well as the features of its interpretation. The author pays special attention to the degree of completeness of the concept actualization in the text as a key to the formation of the vector of associations, which forms the basis of the conceptual metaphor
