CulturaltouriSI11 is arguablythe oldestofthe H new"tourism phenOlnena.Peoplehavebeentraveling for whatwenowcallcultural touriSlTI reasonssincethedaysoftheRonlans;itisjustthatthey were neverrecognizedasbeingadiscretegroupoftravelersbefore.Visiting historicsites,culturallandmarks, attendingspecialeventsandfestivals,orvisitingmuseunlShavealwaysbeenapartofthetotal tourislTI experience.Indeed,alltravel involves aculturalelelTIent.Byits very nature,the artoftraveling removes tourists from their hOlTIeculture andplacesthemtemporarilyin adifferentculturalmilieu,whetherin anadjacentcityorinavillagehalfwayaroundtheworld.Butcultural tourisrTI is seenasofferingsomethingmoreordifferentbothto the touristandthe cOlnmunitythat hoststhe tourist.
