Watercolor techniques

Watercolor can be a struggle. I can relate to these hardships, knowing fi rsthand how challenging watercolor can be. My introduction to watercolor, during a college survey course in the dry heat of Southern California, was disastrous. The use of cheap brushes, paper and paint—plus my inexperience—resulted in streaked washes, splotchy brushstrokes and depressing results. I was so frustrated and intimidated that I didn’t touch watercolor again for ten years.
