This article explores how linguistic deviation functions as a tool for identity performance in online communication environments. With the rise of social media, messaging platforms, and digital forums, language users increasingly diverge from traditional linguistic norms to convey personality, group affiliation, creativity, and resistance. Drawing from sociolinguistic, pragmatic, and discourse-analytic frameworks, this study examines the role of non-standard language forms in constructing online personas and negotiating social identities.
