Аннотация

This aspect of the electric charge — that it is conserved — is not exactly something new to the 20th century; it has been known since the dawn of the age of electricity. What the discovery of the electron established was that the amount of the electric charge on a single electron served to define the smallest amount of electricity, hence defining the fundamental scale of the charges.
