Аннотация

The following article discusses the phenomenon of synonymy, graduonymy, and antonymy in proverbs from the topic group “language and speech” in the Uzbek and English languages. As we all know, the issue of synonymy, antonymy and graduonymy has been widely studied in world linguistics. The phenomenon of semantic relationship between words in Uzbek and English languages has been thoroughly researched. The phenomenon of synonymy occurs in almost all areas of linguistics and is considered one of the main objects, because synonyms occupy a large part of the vocabulary of the language. The semantic factor for distinguishing the lexical graduonymic series is manifested in the presence of a reference to a different degree of a certain sign in each lexeme in the series of expressions of a closely related concept. Antonym is a relationship of contradiction between lexemes. Antonym lexemes should have a common, unifying theme as well as an opposite theme.
