The European Commission promotes co-operation between universities, having acknowledged its importance to the upgrading of the level of education and the students visits to study abroad (one or two semesters) are the dominant element of such cooperation. Indispensable requirement for the development of that form of education is full recognition of the period of studies abroad and foreign diplomas. For that purpose the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) have been created.
