The development of anomalies in newborns is associated with infections suffered by the pregnant woman (rubella, cytomegalovirus, influenza, chicken pox), with her taking medications that have a teratogenic effect, and with exposure to radioactive radiation. Obtaining stable results of correction of congenital atresia of the external auditory canal remains a challenge in otology. Complications such as stenosis, drainage, and hearing loss can be minimized by adhering to well-established concepts and techniques.
